The strange part is that channel 49, which is outputting the same frequency and using the same calibration file is outputting the correct power level of -20dBm. I checked the settings for both channels and they look to be virtually the same. Can someone look into this to see if it is some setting issue or a bug in the firmware? I then change the 'PNA port1src2 to off' via the 'Power' and 'Power and Attenuators' dialog box. Plus there is no way to turn off source 2 through the stimulus 'IMX Spectrum Setup' dialog box; only through the 'Power and Attenuators' dialog box. I did try the experiment with modifying source 2 off and on, but it still gave me the wrong RF power in either case. (up to the max allowed on the port). I used an Agilent spectrum analyzer to measure the output power coming off the RF Port 1 of the PNA-X. So I'm not sure why 2 different imdx channels in the same state file and using the same calibration file is behaving so differently, when they both are configured to output -20dBm. rok |

In retracing the steps I used to create the state file, I think I found the problem. If I use the following routine on an existing IM Spectrum Converters channel whose deltaF=0MHz and the second source is turned off: SENSE:MIX:LO:POW SENSE:MIX:APPL It will change the LO power, but it also changes the deltaF of that channel from 0 to 10MHz, when it shouldn't and also turns on the second source. I believe that it leads to the channel powers being corrupted somehow. So even though the stated RF power listed is the same as before (i.e. -20dBm), internally, it gets reset to max output power somehow for some of the channels (i.e. intermittent behavior). At least that is my theory. I verified the above behavior using the Agilent IO control interactive window. Can the agilent firmware folks verify this? Thanks, rok |
