Spartan 3E电缆自动检测失败

Hello, I had posted earlier to make sure I have the right cable and it seems like I do. So maybe someone can help me with this:

When i start up impact (independently or from within the project navigator) and run the auto cable detect it fails to see any cable. in my setup the xilinx card is connected to a u*** port on my computer via a u*** cable, the xilinx card also contains a u*** port. the card belongs to the Spartan 3E Starter Kit. the starter kit came with ISE 9.2i and EDK 9.2i (i bought this kit 2 years ago). when i had bought the kit i had successfully installed the ISE and managed to download a project onto the card demonstrating that it was working right at the time. i have tried to make the setup on 4 operating systems - Debian (current), Gentoo (current), Windows 7 and Windows Vista. on the linux systems impact throws an error of missing windrvr6. i have looked into this extensively and have found that the u***-parallel programming support which was built into the kernel 2.4.x (current 2 years ago) was later discontinued and a project named Jungo emerged which provided these drivers. the last successful compile of this driver that i can find reference to online is 2.6.16, but we are currently at 2.6.37 and the driver does not compile anymore. based on this i understand why impact fails to identify the device. on windows (both versions mentioned above) the setup is completed successfully for the ISE and the EDK, including the 'Install Cable Drivers' option. but impact fails to detect the cable when i run the autoconnect. after some googling around i found the ug344 cable drivers for vista + ise 9.2i setup. i got of the Xilinx software version 12.4 (including ISE, EDK and a few other applications i havent looked at in detail), as these are supposed to have better support for the cable drivers for vista and windows 7, however i was met with the exact same problem after the installation was complete. note, in windows the drivers do exist and the ise shows in the console that windrvr6 was loaded but still it fails to detect the cable. last, i also tried to run in compatibility mode as admin which also didnt work.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
