i forced a firmware update..
it does some update and then it still says connection failed
Even windows says found new hardware :platforn u*** cable" and "XILINX"
But then it says a problem occured during hardware installation and your device might not work properly..
ISE iMPACT says cable not found..

please help
i need to use to board for my project

I new to spartan 3 e technology !! 
 
I have been trying so hard to make connection cable like for 10 hours !!
 
I am using Vista !! My board is called starter kit which did not start at all!! 
 
I am using Xlinix 10.1 and I donot get any errors  apart from a warning saying error 923 Cannot connect cable!! 
 
I am using USB connection and I donot what type of connection should I use ? 
 
Is it parallel III / parallel IV / mutliPROM or USB Xlinix ? 
 
and by the way it never gives the option for USB Xlinix
 
Can somebody explain the problem to me ?
 
It fails to read the spartan device once I plug the USB into my laptop

yes there was a problem with digilent Spartan 3 E  ( FG320 )
 
but i have installed the drivers  and USB is working !! 
 
However i have problem with the pin configuration ! 
 
How do we make a pin configuration file ? 
 
And also another question would be if pin file is already made of different type of board, could we change the net list location to the board that we are using and run it !! I tried to change the existing pin file to run the LED and clk and btn functions and it did not work !!

我已经使用USB线将我的Spartan连接到笔记本电脑，在ISE iMPACT中我得到了消息：没有电缆。
当我将它连接到我的笔记本时，我发出了一条消息：新设备已被连接。
让Windows自动查找并安装驱动程序。
但后来它说找不到司机。
我在互联网上读到了这一点，我发现在ISE Webpack安装过程中，有一个选项可以选择u*** cable驱动程序。

Hi Spartan Users
 
I have a Spartan 3E Starter Kit and ISE Webpack 10.1. My OS is Vista Home Premium on Asus notebook. I have connected my Spartan to notebook with a USB cable and in ISE iMPACT i got message: no cable. When i connect it to my notebook i gave a message: New device is conencted. Let Windows find and install drivers automatically. But then it says no drivers found. I read in internet about that and I found that during ISE Webpack installation there is an option with drivers for u*** cable. I remember that i didn't unmark anything but also I don't remember that question about mark u*** drivers. I also read that i need to install special USB drivers so i have downloaded. They are named "install_xu***/install_xu***.bat". But when i click that .bat file i have a message saying: "Error: Cannot open service control manager. Make sure you are running with Administrator privileges. Error: Initializing driver failed." And by the way my profile is an Administrator profile. Also in ISE iMPACT i have a message "no cable detected. Go and finish installing drivers."
 
How could i solve my problem??? What should i do? How to make ISE iMPACT downloading files to my Spartan?
 
Really big thx for any solutions which will help :)

I install Webpack ISE 10.1 on my pc with Win Xp Professional and everything works great. But still i would like to work on my notebook with WIn Vista Home Premium. I go to real Administrator profile (this hidden account) and install xu*** drivers, it seemed that everything was ok, but after connecting Spartan 3E to my notebook there was again a problem. It says: there is a problem with INF file. And iPMACT says again no cable. SO what should i do?

Hey you guys... i just got this nexys2 board.... and no cd came with it.... i went on the website to download.... this Adept SDK.... but the link is not working... and says file can't be found.... I have emailed them about it.. but looks like it is gonna take some time...... if any of you can share this sdk with me..... it'll make my life very easier.....

I had a similar problem. I bought a sparten 3e starter kit on ebay and could not get the cable to work on Windows 8 with ISE 14.7.  Tried many things... earlier versions of ISE, compatibility modes, etc. Ultimately the only thing that finally got the cable to install correctly was to install ISE 8.2 (the version that came with the hardware originally) on my Windows XP system. When running imact it updated the driver and the USB cable was finally fully functional. After that I was also able to run ISE 14.7 on Windows XP as well. This same procedure did not work on Windows 8 in XP compatibilty mode.
