It appears that somehow instead of getting a Vivado Webpack License, I managed to get an ISE license???   Not sure how that happened or how to correct it.   Can you confirm?

Hi,
 
The version limit of Vivado webpack is 2014.07 with which you cannot use Vivado 2014.3. 
 
The latest license which you generated is ISE webpack.
 
We have started providing activation based webpack licenses for Vivado. To generate the license follow the steps below.
 
1. Go to Start--> Xilnx Design tools --> Vivado 2014.3 --> Manage Xilinx licenses. This opens VLM.
2. In the "obtain license" tab, select "get free licenses" and click on "connect now".
3. This directs you to Xilinx licensing site where you can find the Vivado webpack license in "Activation based licenses" section. Generate this license.
4. Go to "Load license" tab in VLM and load the recieved license .xml file using "Activate license" option.

From the text file attached, I see the license version limit is 2014.07 where as to work with Vivado 2014.3, you need a minimum version limit as 2014.10.

You have very clear instructions however  the activation licenses block is greyed out on my screen...

When I use the VLM, it just sits and cycles, (firewall??_) I hit cancel and then get an email with the ISE webpack license..

For the activation licenses section to be visible you need to connect via VLM. If VLM is taking time to load, try below
 

1. Source Vivado environment: Open command prompt and migrate to XilinxVivado2014.3. Run settings64.bat or settings64.sh.

2. Run the below command this generates a html file.

xlicclientmgr -cr create_request.xml

3. Open the html file created and login with your details, see if you are able to generate the license.

I started deleting some of the old licenses from my licence page and finally found one for the vivado webpack tools which I could "modify".   It sent a new xilinx.lic file to me which I was able to load.
