Hello everyone,

I have a license server running that has (among other licenses) an ISE Embedded Edition Floating License.  This one was up and running for a long time without issues, but recently we needed to add another seat.

My company purchased one (while I was out actually) and it appears that we got an activation based license, which requires xlicsrvrmgr to use.  I was on flexnet lm 11.6 which didn't have that or any other related tools, so I downloaded and set up flexlm 11.11 from the xlinx website.

I currently have my original xilinx.lic running in that, and it appears to be running fine.  However, I am not sure how to add the other seat.  The email said I need to make a request using xlicsrvrmgr but I can't find any specifics on how to do that.

However in my Manage Licenses page it appears that we have another certificate based license, and I was wondering if I could just add that to my current license file.  I have included links below to screenshots of my licensing page



This first screen shot shows the "Create New Licenses" tab.  Here I can see what appears to be one available "ISE Embedded Edition Floating License" that expires 26 Feb 2016.  Also there are two "Vivado Design Suite: Design Edition Floating (Server) License" activation based licenses that I'm not sure if I am using or if they are necessary for what I am trying to do.



This second screen shot shows the "Manage Licenses" tab.  The current one is at the top, and is what is loaded into my license server currently.  It works fine for one user, but the two can not use it at the same time.  It seems like loaded in the current license file is an "ISE Embedded Edition Floating License" certificate type license, that expires 31 Jan 2016 (which is why I think it is separate to the other certificate license that expires 26 Feb 2016).

However, I have tried modifying the current license file to add this other seat with a different expiration date, and have run into issues here as well.



Screenshot 3 is what I get when I click "Modifu License" in the "Manage Licenses" tab.  Both "ISE Embedded Edition Floating License" certificate licenses are shown, however, when I click the check mark box near the second one and try to add 1 requested seat I get this:



It tells me to exit and use "Modify License", which I am already doing.

Sorry for the long post, I am just completely lost for what to do next.  Do I need to use the two "Vivado Design Suite: Design Edition Floating (Server) License" Activation based licenses with xlicsrvrmgr somehow?  Should I try and add the second "ISE Embedded Edition Floating License" Certificate Based License to my current Xilinx.lic?  What is the difference between the two?
