Make sure that you have executable permissions to the file locations.  If that still doesn't help try launching the xsetup.exe from the binnt folder and see if this does anything.

   Can you please elaborate on this? I have the same problem running webpack (I double click on xsetup.exe and nothing happens) on Win 7 Pro X64 and Vist Home Premium x32.However, I have no problem runnig the ISE Design Suite setup on either. More specific instructions on how to run the webpack exe file would be great. Thank you very much.

If you can't run the setup.exe (10.1) or xsetup.exe (11.1) that is located in the root of the unarchived installation files then you should go to the binnt directory and run the xsetup.exe or setup.exe that resides there.  The one in the root just finds out what OS the computer is and runs the appropriate (x)setup from the bin folder, i.e. in the nt, nt64, lin or lin64 folders.  So running the setup directly from one of these folders, depending on the OS you are running on, skips the first step and you choose the OS instead of the installer trying to do it.  This often needs to be done when trying to install the tools on an unsupported OS.

When I run xsetup in the <>/bin/nt folder I get the following error window pop up.
Actually two identical windows one right after the other.

I click OK then the same window pops up again and I click OK and nothing else happens.
 
Again, I am running Windows XP SP2 as administrator.
Are there any application or environment dependencies this needs to install? Like a certain version of Java or something?
I have not tried the same thing with version 10.1 yet.

I finally go it to work!!! I moved the entire untarred installation folder to my C: root directory. I then ran xsetup from the /bin/nt folder.
 
Using this method, I intsalled it on both my desktop (Win 7 Pro, x64) and my notebook (Vista Home Premium, x32).
 
I hope it works for everyone else who was having the same problems...

I'm not sure why you're seeing these errors when trying to install unless the installation files aren't complete or are corrupt.  Have you checked the MD5 checksum of the installation archive versus the one given in the downloads site (hover your mouse over the file size on the downloads site and you will see this information)?  If that's not the issue and the MD5 checksum is correct then you should open a webcase.

You're right.
I mistakingly assumed that since I downloaded the 11.1 tar file three times and they were exactly the same that the download went fine.
I just checked the MD5 checksum and it doesn't match.
 
The 10.1 download link does not show the checksum for the 10.1 tar file, can you provide that? 
That one is probably bad as well since I get the same behavior when trying to install that version.
 
I guess I have to request a DVD or find some way to run the webinstall program.
Does the webinstall automatically calculate the checksum or have some kind of error correction mechanism?

Hi Jason,
 
The checksum for the 10.1 installation archive, ise_SFD.tar, is this: 75007dadb9718c959497ade2c18c5864.  That's for the full install files, not the WebPack install files for 10.1.
You can get this by getting into the area where you download the 10.1 install files and then click on the "Download Files Individually" link and click on the file size which appears under the "Details" column.  This will bring up a window that has the checksum amongst other information.
 
You should be able to run the WebInstall Client which you can use to download the files and then install them later or download and install them right away.  I'm not sure if the webinstall has a checksum feature, but it must have something like that because it will give an error if it fails to download somthing correctly.

I've got exactly the same problem as Jason. Simply nothing happens when I double click on xsetup.exe. The checksum match the one shown in the download page. It seems that has nothing to do with the path, as I've also tried moving the untar folder in C:Webpack. The version I downloaded is 11.1.
