I was getting some problem in calibrating the VNA with Open, Short, Through and Load Standards using a calibration substrate. So my Professor suggested that I can check the actual dc resistance at the VNA ports using the bias input terminals at the back panel of the VNA just to ensure that these standards on the cal substrate are behaving as they should. For example a 50 Ohm load at Port 1 should give me a little higher than 50 Ohm(because of cable losses) when measured through bias inputs. Port 1 is behaving properly but port 2 always gives a 0.9 Ohm resistance (even when it is open). I am using a BNC to banana adapter at the bias input and then a multimeter to measure the resistance. If you have a high resolution meter, leave the front panel port open, then you can ohm out the rear bias BNC and the front panel port. The short may be located closer to the port that has the least resistance. |
