In fact, the N5230C is a discontinued model and the latest supported firmware for it is from 2011. It also does not have the hardware necessary to make good noise figure and IMD measurements. Customers who want to make these two measurements typically use one of our PNA-X models (we have PNA-X models from 8.5 GHz max frequency all the way up to 67 GHz max frequency and beyond using mmw external mixers). Noise figure measurements in specific come in two options, using a dedicated low noise receiver (option 029) and using the standard NA receiver (option 028). Option 029 is only available on PNA-X models. the 029 option is designed to make very accurate low noise measurements and you can either use a noise source (not included) or a power sensor (also not included) for calibration. option 028 uses the standard NA receivers to make noise power measurements, but it has a higher noise figure than the dedicated low noise receiver. it is designed as a lower cost alternative for making noise figure measurements on high gain and/or high noise devices where the gain+noise is at least 30-35 dB. devices with less gain and noise can be measured with option 028 as long as you have your own external low noise amplifier that you can connect in front of the PNA receiver using the configurable testset loops. Option 028 can only be calibrated with a power sensor (noise sources won't have high enough ENR to overcome the receiver noise figure). in addition to PNA-X's, option 028 is also available on some PNA models, but not on any PNA-Ls. to make IMD/IP3 measurements (option 087) you need a PNA-X or a PNA that has the dual source option. on PNA-X's you'll also need the built-in combiner network for the IMD measurement (option 223 or 423). We also allow IMD measurements on PNA models that support dual sources with an external combining network. Hope this answers your questions.
