One would have to put a lens over the receive side of the chip and that would be very expensive. I did have one customer who used two sensors side by side and at slightly different angles. As the target moved from right to left, the one sensor would get a range, when the second sensor also got a range, the machine 'knew' the leading edge of the target was in the small over-lapping FoV.
