In other words, parts are missing. The 2.92 connector should appear similar to a 3.5 mm connector with with a thicker ground plane wall. The precision connectors will have a air dielectric around the center pin, not poly-propolene like a SMA connector. The physical size and threads of the nut and female connector are the same as SMA. To basically answer your question on cables. The VNA cables recommended by Keysight have certain characteristics that are important for quality measurements. They are quality connector ends, low VSWR performance, amplitude and phase stable. The incorrect test port cables have shown to be one of the top two causes of improper measurements from a VNA.
