    Once you get past the 'oddness' of harmony thigns. ( which does take some getting used to ) its increadibly fast to put stuff together..

Moving this project around to be something else now becomes a LOT LOT more work.

    Hi,
Why should it be a harmony project?
In the AWS website, it is explained to be based on FreeRTOS.
FreeRTOS have been around from long before Harmony, and is a OS supporting based on context switching.
FreeRTOS is also intended to be ported to any hardware, independent of manufacturer and licensing restrictions.
Context switching is conceptually different from the Cooperative Multitasking with state machines that is primarily suggested in Harmony.
 
Licensing restrictions? What if you move a project with a lot of Harmony generated and Framework code to a NXP microcontroller, would that be within the licensing rules?
 
Harmony is putting a lot of effort into making use of harmony framework peripheral layer.
This is with the intention that drivers and application shall be portable to other hardware,
but are harmony peripheral layer files available for TI microcontrollers? 
and if they were, what would the licensing rules be?
 
Microchip also do not make everything Harmony.
They are actually running 2 separate and different software efforts:
Microchip Code Configurator is independent of, and different from Harmony.

    I like PIC's and Microchip a lot but after using CubeMX for a project, it's impossible to use Harmony, plus I was  burned early on in the Harmony stages and reluctantly moved away, with CubeMX I know for sure if it's a software problem or a connection problem. With Harmony I'm not sure if the generated code is the problem or a chip errata, or a hardware problem. I prefer to write everything from scratch now, and avoid harmony at all costs, I'm already damaged.
 
I have no problem using state machines and stuff, but they messed up early on and it's hard to make a comeback now. I mean plib was awesome and being the PIC fanboy that I am I jumped headfirst into harmony when it started and got burned and scarred and burned and scarred a thousand times, on top of using the buggy PIC32MZ ADC (a nightmare) I had no choice but to switch to the STM32 for future projects. I mean Harmony used to generate code that compiled with errors, like MILLIONS of errors!! And they made it clear plib is "legacy". PIC24 is so much easier to use I mean with the PIC24FJ128GB204 with MCC and MLA, it's like everything works FLAWLESSLY, then I look at the PIC32 and cringe to use it when I think about Harmony, if I invest in plib, then I know it will eventually be obsoleted and I cant use devices I really really want to used (PIC32MXDA, PIC32MK) with it, so I am torn.
 
Now I agree Harmony is a little better, but I already moved on, Harmony is like the ex that does everything right after you have found someone else. Right now I'm using PIC32 cause of the kids (product build already), but I'm already over it. Harmony it's not you, it's me. Okay I lied it's you!
