  Hi,

I was wondering if the Error -141 Invalid Character Data error is caused by any particular command that you are sending over? Or is it the case that you can send any command to the instrument and it will generate the error?

I think there are a few ways to tackle this. First, you have to see whether it is a Labview error or an instrument error. Whatever I/O driver/library you are using should have a simple scripting tool that allows you to send SCPI commands one by one over the interface. You can try this first and see whether it still generates the error. If everything is good here, then we know it has to do with the NI program.

Overvoltage and Overcurrent are the two most typical protection that occurs. There are other things like over temperature. After the protection occurs, if you press the "PROT" key on the front panels, does the display show you what protection tripped?
