Hi everyone,

i am working on a high-speed data link between two FPGA ( Spartan 6 LX150T) boards. Until now i am using mini DisplayPort as for the link but i want to switch to a SFP module. Now my question is: The GTP transceiver has a line rate of 3.125 Gb/s and there is a custom protocol implemented, do i have to choose a SFP module with the same line rate (3.125)? Because it is quiet diffucult to find one, which supports this line rate. Or is it possible that i take a SFP module with a line rate of 4.25 Gb/s but the transceiver still has a line rate of 3.125 Gb/s?

To sum up my question is: Does a SFP module, which supports "line rates up to 4.25 Gb/s", work with a GTP transceiver, which line rate is only 3.125 Gb/s?
