  Hi,

If you install the latest firmware (A.07.52) from www.keysight.com/find/fieldfoxsuport, you will get a choice to update the time via the internet. you need to use a LAN cable and connect the FieldFox to the internet.  Once that connection is valid, you can udpate the time using the softkey update via internet and it should work.  There are no restrictions with that update.

  I had the same problem before. The problem was fixed by connecting the Fieldfox to the the internet. My connection uses a Netgear Wifi Adapter so you can connect your Fieldfox to the internet wherever Wifi is available. The adapter uses Wifi connecting to the Wifi router and has a LAN connection for the the Fieldfox. I also use the same adapter for Fieldfox talking to the Datalink software in my PC, very convenient.

I did connect the FF to the internet, but I get an "invalid network connection" error although I can connect remotely to it for control purposes (i.e., Keysight datalink software works fine).

My best guess is you need to configure your PC to enable the FF to use the PC connecting to the internet. If the FF is connected to the router, then you don't need to do so.

Most likely the Proxy host isn't set up in the FF (if you have a proxy to connect to the internet, from say behind a corporate firewall) or your network isn't connected to the greater internet for some reason (network security setup usually). Remote connection (underlined above) usually implies a +local+ network connection (i.e. not punching through a Firewall which requires some NAT setup that most network admins don't allow). If so then that doesn't help debug your time problem. 

Anyhow, some network security (e.g. Firewall) or misconfiguration is probably blocking an internet connection.

As others have mentioned, it is most likely some issue with getting to the internet. I just tried it on my analyzer and did not have an issue. Here is also the section from the User's Guide on setting time/date. Somehow my previous responses have been deleted.

*Date and Time, Format, and Time Zone Settings*
Set the local date and time, Date and Time format, and Time Zone that is shown on the FieldFox screen. The Date and Time is also used to identify files that are saved. 

*How to Update Date and Time using Internet*
This method of setting the Date and Time does NOT have the security restrictions of the other methods (listed below).

This method will NOT set the correct Time Zone. You must do that using the manual method. See below.
      Press System   7
     Then System Configuration.
     Then More
     Then Update Time using Internet
     Connect a LAN cable that is also connected to the internet.
     Then press Update Time using Internet. When successful, a message is displayed indicating the amount of time correction that occurred.

*Optional: Set the following when a Proxy server is used to connect to the internet:*
o     Proxy Host – Enter the name of the proxy host.
o     Proxy Port – Enter the port number of the proxy host.

*How to MANUALLY set Date and Time, Format, and Time Zone*
NOTE     
Because of licensing security, the manual and GPS Sync methods to set Date and Time are restricted as follows:
     Can be set backward no more than 5 hours at a time.
     Can be set forward any amount of time.
     Can be set backward or forward no more than once in a day. A new day begins at midnight. 
There is no restriction for setting the Time Zone.

TIPS     BEFORE manually setting the Date and Time, be absolutely certain that the Time Zone setting is correct.
     Press System   7
     Then System Configuration.
     Then More.
     Then Date and Time.
     Press the ▲|▼ arrows to highlight the row to be edited.
     Then press Edit.
     Use the ▲|▼ arrows or rotary knob to select the field to be edited. 
     Use the ▲|▼ arrows or numeric keypad to edit that field.
     Press Cancel or Done when the edits are complete.
Press Done to exit the Date and Time settings. The readout in the upper-right corner of the FieldFox screen will update accordingly.

since I can connect to the FF from outside the network (i.e., I can remotely control it from home while the instrument is at my office) I assume that there is no such issue as a Firewall restriction or misconfiguration.
I do believe the FF is the problem: I can not update the time through LAN and, also, I get the "unable to change time backwards more than once per day" error message even if I try to change it once every week...

  This sounds like a network issue.  Needless to say, networking can be complicated, and the fact that you can remote display your box from 'home' might not have any relevance to whether the FieldFox can connect to its time server from its location on your (work?) network. Keysight cannot really own troubleshooting your connection to the Internet from the location where your FieldFox is located.

That said...

Current FieldFox firmware does not have any additional network diagnostics to assist you with your network troubleshooting.  I would check that a PC connected to the network at the same location as the FieldFox (i.e. to the same router) is able to connect out to public Internet servers, such as:

http://www.keysight.com
http://www.agilent.com
https://www.google.com
http://www.yahoo.com
https://www.microsoft.com
https://www.facebook.com

Can you check that a PC at the same network location as the problem FieldFox can connect to *all* of the above URLs?  If so, and if that PC is configured with proxy server, is your FieldFox configured with the same proxy?

If not, perhaps another test you can try is to test your FieldFox from you home network connection.  In my experience, ISPs providing 'home' Internet service do not have intrusive/disruptive firewalls and/or proxied network connections found in corporate networks.  If it works at home and not at work, that would indicate an issue with your work network.

  I posted this in the other thread too .....

In order for the *Update Time Using Internet* to work, you need to use the *DHCP* setting in FieldFox. Using a +STATIC IP does not work+ at this time (firmware revision A.07.76 or lower) as we do not have an entry field for DNS server. We will add that in the future. So for now, users need to use DHCP and to also be sure to press *"Apply Settings" "Now"* after they have selected DHCP.
