The ID and Error queries are more obvious, but Enable I/O and Disable I/O might need some additional explanation. Enable IO: when the user adds a new external device and clicks the checkbox "Enable IO" when that dialog is dismissed by clicking OK, the PNA attempts to communicate with the device over the specified interface. we first send the ID query command and if that is successful, we then send whatever commands the users has listed in the Enable IO command entry. In most cases, these are initialization commands for setting up your device. for a DC source, that might be doing a preset and selecting the right output. basically you'll want to send the commands that you need to send once during a measurement session to get your device ready. If everything you need to do can be covered in the per-sweep and per-point commands, then you can just leave the Enable IO entries blank. Disable IO: If at some point you disable the IO (by unchecking the check box or through the preferences) we will send whatever commands that are in diable IO section prior to disabling the IO. Why would one want to do that? well, for example you may want to turn off all outputs before disabling the IO for safety reasons. Again, if you don't want to do anything special before disabling the IO, just leave it blank. |
