Also because of this i can't just read over the warning of my C30 Compiler "pic30-elf-cc1.exe: warning: General License error, please install a license" as i may would do at my home... ;-) So I know that there is a "free"-version of the C30 Compiler. But I dont know and cant find any entry saying what exactly is the difference. At this internship the students don't do too fancy stuff, so the question is: Do i need it? And can I use it for an academic use without buying the license? I hope i didnt read over any entry here in the forum. Thanks in advance! Robin

There is a free version that has no (or very minimal) optimizations. This will allow you to develop and test. You can buy a licensed version that has enhanced optimization. But I don't know the details of all that. Edit: I would point out that the majority of users are using the free version. :) Finally C30 has been "deprecated". Look to the XC16 compiler for it's modern day equivalent. |
