Based on the port names that you referenced, it sounds to me like you're using your E8364B together with one of the N441x models of external testset. The default "logical to physical portmapping" for that system is: 1 = "PNA1", 2 = "TS1", 3 = "PNA2", 4 = "TS2". ECal auto-orientation generally fails whenever the PNA receiver for a testport has trouble measuring the signals reflected from the ECal port attached to that port, either because the power is too low, or an external attenuator connected in the path makes it too low, or if somehow something's blocking that signal from being received at all. If you have a short or open standard handy, I'd suggest connecting that standard to port PNA2 and make a raw (i.e. uncalibrated) S33 measurement, and see if that seems to show a decent amount of reflected signal being measured. Alternatively you might also make a thru connection between PNA1 and PNA2 and see if raw measurements of S31 and S13 seem reasonable (ripply and some number of dB down but showing the signal received). My first guess would be that one or more of the jumper cables between the PNA and testset on the righthand side may have gotten loose, kinked or cross-connected versus the intended connections. |
