I have a 32MX795F512L and a 24FJ256GB206 cohabiting on one board - both can access the same SD card so I need to be scrupulously careful to ensure that they are not using it at the same time! This works fine but suddenly the 32MX won't start at power up - however I can get it to start by momentarily grounding the MCLR (manually). I have tried to understand the various available reset options but find the Microchip documentation pretty inscrutable on the subject - as I read it, there is an option to put a delayed startup in software but I can't see quite how to do it. One of the most poorly documented subjects in the Microchip line is the proper use of the settings for the configuration bits - even to the extent of using different terminology/acronyms to describe them in different documentations. I proper multiplexer rather than just sharing the pins might fix that.

I must contemplate on your suggestion as it did seem to start after I made some changes to the 24FJ code. I thought a simple delay at the start would fix it but not. Do you know of a way to implement a delayed power-up on the 32MX?
