    I gather that you can program the MCU now which is one step forward.
However we are faced with the same problem: "...but pic didn't work" tells us nothing.
There could be issues with your hardware, your configuration settings, and/or your code.
Can you do a 'DEBUG' build and does the debugger connect to the MCU after programming that?
Can you write a simple program to flash a LED and does that work?
What have you tried; what works and what doesn't- tell us what you expected to happen and what actually did happen?
Is the hardware something you have designed and built or is it as pre-made board (which one)?
Can you show is your code (including the configuration settings)?

    I don't think a PIC16F54 has on board debugging capability. There's no DEBUG but in the CONFIG word.
Darko, that really is a very poor PIC to try to learn on.
It's ancient, PICs have come a long way since then. The new ones are faster, easier to get going, easier to debug, and CHEAPER.

At a guess, the company who wrote the code are using MPLAB8, and manually setting the CONFIG bits when they program it into a chip.

    The config settings are values that are programmed into the MCU (typically in locations named 'CONFIG' or similar for these low-end devices) that tell the device how to set itself up on power-up (and some other reset conditions).
If you look at the data sheet for any IC device, you will see a section "Special Features of the CPU" (it can be named slightly differently for some devices but that is the name for the PIC16F54) and the first part of that is normally the configuration bit settings.
In your program you often set these bit fields using #pragma lines.
