  I have tried BenchVue 2.7 (our latest, just released a couple of weeks ago) in the scenario you described. I manually configured a 34410A for 4000 samples, one per second, from the front panel and let it run for the full 4000 seconds (just over an hour). Using the DMM App with the 30-day free trial of the Pro App enabled, I then took control back (from the dialog box that pops up stating that an acquisition is in progress or the DMM has readings in its output buffer) and selected "Stop and Upload". It correctly loaded the 4000 readings into the chart. I tried this twice, once with the licensed version and once with the 30-day free trial, and both worked fine. Can you provide more details on exactly how you have set up the 34411A and how it is not working?

  I've been using BenchVue 2.7 as well. The 34411A in my test was sampling every 10s for 10 hours.
It was configured from the front panel. After the test I connected the DMM to BenchVue over USB
and got a message asking if I wanted to upload logged data to the PC. I started the upload but nothing 
happened. When I connected to the DMM again I didn't get that message anymore but the logged
data is still in the DMM.

I tried the same with a 34970A. It was configured the same way from the front panel, 10s sampling,
10 hours logging time. When I connected it to BenchVue over RS232 (via USB to RS232 converter)
I got a message asking if I wanted to upload logged data. I started the upload but nothing happened
again. I tried connecting to the DAQ one more time (exactly the same way) and this time it worked,
I was able to upload logged data.

  OK, I see one difference between our two scenarios that I will look into. In my case, the instrument was connected and active in BenchVue the entire time, but I manually configured it from the front panel. As soon as you start pushing buttons, BenchVue detects that and pops up a message saying that the front panel is in use and to press Resume to reacquire control. In your case, it looks like you captured data offline, then connected the instrument to the PC, then started BenchVue. Will check out this method and see if it has any problems.

  No, I was not able to reproduce it. Offline data reads in fine when I have the 30-day free trial of DMM Pro running. Any additional info you can send would be helpful. A screen shot showing the trial days remaining, any error messages, and IO Monitor log would also be useful. You can also use the "Report an Issue" button in the "Gear" icon at the upper right corner of BenchVue's screen. That will email me all log files. You can attach additional files to that email.

  I tried reading off-line data twice today. It didn't work the first time but it worked the second time.
The logger configuration was slightly different, sampling time was always 10s, logging time
was 2 hours and 9 seconds the first test (that didn't work) and 2 hours 10 seconds in the second test.
Logger was always configured from the front panel.

I captured IO messages both times, they are in the attached file.

Something strange happened in the second test that worked. When I clicked on the 'Stop/Upload'
button the first time, nothing happened. I had to click on it again. Then BenchVue read
the data. I'm not sure if that's relevant. I noticed that the default button in the Upload 
data message window is the 'Stop Only' button (it's in the blue box). Do I need to make 
the 'Stop/Upload' button to be in the blue box before clicking on it?

I'm quite sure I always clicked on the correct button. I'm running another test, when it's done,
I'll observe how those buttons work.

  Hmmm, interesting. The number of readings reported in memory in your first case (2 hours 9 seconds) was correct at 720. The second one was also correct at 721. Everything looks normal in both cases. Your idea about the highlighted button is interesting, but all that should mean is that if you pressed "Enter", it would simply stop, since that is the highlighted button. Clicking Stop and Upload should have worked fine. The SCPI messages in the one that didn't work clearly indicate that a Stop (alone) was executed, because after the "abort" command to stop readings, there are other commands that reset the reading count to 0. I don't think this has anything to do with the one-hour limitation on the non-Pro vs. unrestricted on the Pro (including Pro trial), although that certainly seemed like a possibility - it has all the earmarks of a software oversight! But since you got it to work once, I think we can rule that out.

  Here's something else that could account for the problem. Is it possible that the "focus" is on another window when you click the Stop/Upload button? If so, all you'd be doing by clicking anywhere inside the BenchVue window is restoring it to the active Window. So it would appear that you clicked the button but you really didn't. Once focus is restored to BenchVue, clicking the button works normally.

  Scratch that last thought. I just tried it, and even if the focus is somewhere else, merely hovering over the Stop/Upload button switches it to the blue highlight. Does it do that for you too?

  I think I know how to recreate the issue. You need to power on the DMM, configure it from
the front panel to log data for 2 hours with 10s sampling. When the logging is finished,
connect it to a PC over USB and start BenchVue. Upon connection you will get a popup
message asking you to Upload data. When you select the 'Stop/Upload' button,
BenchVue will not upload any data.

When you disconnect the USB cable and switch the DMM to local mode and configure
it from the front panel again to log data with the same parameters without powering it off
and use BenchVue when the data logging is finished, the logged data will be uploaded.

I tried this twice, it worked the same way both times. I couldn't upload data only from the first
data logging after the DMM was powered up.'

  I just finished logging data for 10 hours with the 34411A and successfully uploaded the data to the PC with BenchVue.
This time I powered on the DMM, logged data for 2 hours, tried to upload it. That failed, so I configured
the DMM from the front panel again to log for 10 hours without powering the DMM off and on.

So it looks like uploading logged data doesn’t work only after the first logging cycle after DMM power up.

  One more question...

In the scenario you describe, I can see two possible use cases. One is that the DMM was physically moved somewhere to log data, then turned off and moved to the PC where BenchVue is running. In this case you would be powering it up AND reconnecting the USB cable.

The other case would be that the instrument was connected to the USB port the whole time but was simply configured manually, then BenchVue was run to capture the data.

Which one describes your situation?

  The meter is power on, configured from the front panel and not connected to the PC. When the logging is finished the meter is connected to the PC to upload data. It fails the first time so USB cable is unplugged and the meter is configured
from the front panel again. When the second, third, and so on logging cycle is finished, the meter is connected to the PC to upload data.

I didn't try powering the meter off after data logging and then powering it on before uploading data to the PC (it's always on and connected to the PC only to upload data, when data is uploaded the USB cable is disconnected). It's actually the PC that is being moved to and from the meter.

I'm OK with the workaround.It works.

  OK, I have been able to re-create the problem without having to log for more than an hour. Even a few measurements works. The key is that the instrument is running from a power cycled state. The instrument can be connected or disconnected via USB, doesn't matter. For some weird reason, after detecting that there is data in the buffer and presenting the dialog box with the Upload/Stop options, BenchVue issues an NPLC command, which clears the output buffer. I have updated the bug report. Thanks for your help getting it figured out and glad you're OK with the temporary workaround.

  Can I make a suggestion for an additional feature in BenchVue? The ability to read logged data from a logging instrument at any time would be nice. Just a button called 'Upload Logged Data' and please don't delete the logged data in the instrument after data uploading.
