  Hi

     I bought recently an USB to rs-232 converter on Digikey (768-1032-ND) and with Connection Expert (IO librairies 17.0 from Agilent), it's easy to test communication with a 34970A.

    Connect u***-rs232 converter to your 34970A with null modem cable, and configure setup rs-232  with keys "shift" "interface". Open Connection Expert, use manual configuration and add "serial instrument on asrl?". Choice the right com port and configure it with same parameters that your 34970A.

     Use tab "Instruments", click on the asrl? connection that you just configure, on right, click on "Send commands to this instrument". Click on "Send and Read" button, normally, you will receive an answer of you 34970A connected. Default command is "*IDN?".

另一件需要考虑的事情是，PC / USB-RS232适配器和仪器的组合使连接看起来很挑剔。
我有一台可以使用34970a的PC（1），但是如果我切换适配器（1到2）则不会。
如果我把适配器2放到另一台PC（2），那么这将工作正常但不是如果我使用适用于PC的适配器1（1）它只是，可爱......而且很遗憾，因为该产品非常稳定，灵活，
一旦你设法让它做你想要的东西就准确。

  Another thing to consider is that the connection seems to be pickyish with the combination of PC/USB-RS232 adapter and instrument.

I've got a PC(1) that works with an 34970a, but wont if I switch the adapter(1 to 2).

If i put adapter 2 into another PC(2), then that will work ok but not if I use adapter 1 that worked with PC(1)

It's just, lovely... And a shame since the product is very stable, flexible and accurate once you manage to get it to do what you want it to.
