MPLAB X保留EEPROM问题

    I am using MPLAB X 3.51 targeting a PIC18F27K40 which has 1024 bytes of EEPROM.  I am using PICkit 3 as the programmer, and XC 1.41 as the compiler.  I am trying to 'preserve' a few bytes of EEPROM for configuration settings, something that I have successfully done in other PICs.

In the properties, I select "Preserve EEPROM Memory" but when I type the range, the text field turns red and the error message in the bottom of the screen shows 'Unknown cause'.  I have tried a bunch of variations on the range but consistently get the same error.  I have also tried this both by setting the "Auto select memories and ranges" to manual as well as in the 'Allow pickit 3 to select', but same error.

I tried to upload an image of the properties window but got a server error.

Any ideas?
