Suppose I change my schematic window S parameter Start to 1.6GHz and Stop as 2Ghz (In the EM set up it is 1.8 Ghz and 1.9 GHz, respectively) . When simulation is run from the schematic view with EM modele selected as view for simulation, will it run the EM simulation again with the new frequency set in the schematic view? 5. Suppose I make some changes in the copper in cell 1 layout view and save. How to make sure that this change in reflected in the schematic view and in my simulation results? 6. Suppose I add another port in the layout view on the copper. How to make sure that it is reflected in the schematic view? 7. In the EM set up window, there is an option for "Mode/symbol". Then there is another one under "EM","Component","Create Model/Symbol". Are they same? |

If you want to see the mesh, you can generate it from the emSetup (bottom right: change the dropdown list from "S-Parameters" to "Mesh" and click "Go") > 4. It will keep using the frequencies that are configured in the emModel, no matter what you have configured in the schematic! You will see a warning about data extrapolation, but otherwise there is no automatic behaviour to adjust the emModel/emSetup frequencies. Agilent support say this is on purpose, because you might want to EM your layout up to the n-th harmonic in nonlinear simulations, and the user should better set all this manually. I don't fully agree on that, but it is what it is ... One comment on emModel and emSetup here: the emModel is created from the emSetup settings, and creates a "snapshot" of these settings. So after you have created the emModel, it has its own independent settings until it is updated from the emSetup. It is only updated from the emSetup if you update it manually, or after an EM simulation from the emSetup dialog with the automatic emModel update enabled. > 5. You need to be careful here! ADS does not recognize your layout changes, if you *manually edit the layout*. You need to manually start EM simulation from the emSetup, and enable automatic update of the emModel. This will overwrite previous results. If the layout is a parameterized cell, and the layout changes automatically because the cell parameters change, then the emModell *will* recognize this and add another set up results for this parameter combination. > 6.
