I assume that is becuase the male nut moves around, so changing the fringing capacitance in a way that is essentially random, so any model of a male SMA would be pretty inaccurate. I was hoping it was going to cover a wider range, such as BNC, APC7 etc. The point that "QuickCal is not applicable to waveguide" got me thinking of a couple of things. 1) Although I can't imagine it being of any commercial interest to Agilent, it might make an interesting student project to try to extend QuickCal to waveguide. The characteristcs of waveguide are well known, and of a waveguide with a flange on the end would be relatively simple for HFSS or EMPro. I would expect the S-parameters of an open waveguide with a flange on the end would be simple to compute. I guess the problem would be the waveguide to coax transition. 2) Does this mean if there is waveguide in the system, the QuickCal breaks down? If one had the following in series * FieldFox * N to N cable * N to waveguide transition (e.g Agilent X281A) * Section of waveguide * Waveguide to N transition (a second Agilent X281A) would QuickCal still work?
