Hi,
 
In the project directory after running smartxplorer, a folder by name smartxplorer_results will be created. Check for the smartxplorer.log file located in this folder. This may contain the error/warning messages.
 
Also it takes few seconds to launch the strategies window after you click select the options and click on ok. Wait for some time and check if the run had started.
 
Also check the console window to see if there are any errors reported.

Hi,
 
I have checked the smartxplorer results folder and there are no files in it.  Also I have let the thing run for quite some time (30min) with no action.  The processes running 'wheel' that sits between the design hierachy window and the available processes window does not move and has run failed:smartxplorer written next to it rather than running:smartxplorer.
 
Its almost like an executable is missing or some sort of config file is missing but obviously I don't know the inner workings of ISE!!

I am having a similar problem with ISE 14.4.  When I try to run SmartXplorer, I get Launching SmartXplorer in the console window but there are no processes running.  There are no files in smartxplorer_results directory.

I was running into the exact same problem on Ubuntu and tried running the command line version (smartxplorer).  Turned out I did not have the library "libncurses.so.5" installed which smartxplorer needs.

On Ubuntu 64 bit, "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs" fixed it.
