The SOIC and SSOP packages should have identical pinouts, but as someone else noted you will require two PCB layouts to accommodate them. Are you sure that you've handled all of the important pins properly on both packages? This is an easy mistake and could explain a lot. If the part won't run at all, have you looked at the OSC pins? Do you have roughly symmetrical waveforms on both? This presumes you're using an external crystal, which I presume you are if you're using CAN to insure you get accurate bit timing. But again, that's just a presumption because we have zero data about what you're doing, what isn't working, etc. We're using this exact family of parts in a present design, and it's working perfectly. We'll try to help but we're totally in the dark about your situation. The more you share, the better we can help. |
