It is not like modern day instruments. The commands to output data all start with the letter "O", such as "OD" for Output Data and "OC" for Output Cursor. It will work on whatever is the active trace. Assuming you are programming the instrument, you should know what that active trace is. Likewise, you should also know if averaging or smoothing is on. ALL needed commands are in the manual. If you need something that is not listed you are just out of luck. Keep in mind, the base firmware for this was written around 1982. |

I found "OFA" and "OFB" will work to output the start/stop freq and these commands are not listed in the manual. Yes, I agree the user will know if averaging or smoothing is on but I need the computer to read whether it is on/off. I am trying to read as much information as possible from the equipment with as little user input as necessary. Currently, the 8757 will output the smoothing value (default is 5) even if smoothing is off. Is there an easier way to output all the information from the 8757 wihtout using the "OD", "OPSO, ect commands? I was just hoping there might be additional commands someone else has found or came across that might help me. Looks like I am out of luck. |

The learn string contains everything about the current Instrument state. We never documented the contents of the learn string because it could change with firmware revision, however, that is not applicable anymore since the firmware will never change again. So you could read the learn string with and with out various things turned on/off and compare the two. Keep in mind this is a binary file.
