I was more concentrating on the video board then to the A16 processor board, the 8592a which I have has a stand alone video board from the processor board, unfortunately I haven't been able to find any drawing for the board ,all the one I found are relate to the 8590 which the processor and the video are in the same board. This board has a video controller IC made by Hitachi and 4 video memory u9 ,u12,u12,u18 plus the rest of IC's . I'm not in a big hurry to get the unit going, since I'm retired and I only like to use the unit to play around but I would like to see the unit going, it does not have to be perfect has long I will be able to see the signal displayed.. Definitely it would be nice to have a similar working unit to swap the board and be able to determine the faulty board and then work only on the faulty board ,but finding a working unit will be very difficult. I will keep looking for a solution and will keep you posted. Thanks again |

My specific problem was tracked down to an intermittent attenuator. The two major clues are: 1) The discontinuity always happens at the same point or within the same boundaries in amplitude, and 2) The problem goes away when correction is turned off. EDIT: And when I say "amplitude errors," I don't mean expected frequency response variations. I mean extreme and unexpected amplitude changes, like a bad step in the attenuator, that confuses the calibration routine and casues it to generate bad cal data.
