  It's the first time I've seen this on any machine. It's not a new program. I've had it running on other PCs. It's the first time I've tried it on this PC. What changed was moving to this PC to run it. It has a full installation of VEE 9.32. I just tried a fresh program using MATLAB to add 2 real numbers and it errored there too. Error number 591; "Could not start MATLAB Script Engine (-3)". There doesn't seem to be any place to look up these error numbers with any more detail. The Mathworks web site that VEE help sent me to is useless for looking up what this means.

  This is a known problem ( to do with Windows UAC ).  Good news is that the fix is really easy - run the program once as an administrator.  Once you've done that, it will run fine in normal 'user' mode, I think it writes something to the registry.

You might need to do this separately for runtime-only installations and development.  For the development program you can simply right-click the shortcut in the menu and select 'run as administrator'.  For a runtime you need to call up veerun with options.  Here's the way I did exactly that on a customer's machine last week:

find command prompt in the start menu and run that as administrator
use DOS commands to navigate to the directory in which your Matlab-contained vxe file resides
enter the file name and DOS will run it e.g.
C:Program Files (x86)Test Programs> testprog.vxe

DOS should know that it needs veerun to run it and will call it with admin rights so it should run as expected.  Exit when you are happy it has worked.

Test by launching the program as you are now.

  Hey Mike.  I have been having the same problem here.  We are switching to Windows 10 and my HP-VEE 9.32 was crashing badly.  I found that I had to enable .NET 3.51, etc. and IT had turned off Windows Update, which Win10 has to access to upload the necessary files.  This got VEE working, but any call to a Matlab function caused a crash.  Running your suggestion above has Fixed It!  Keysight says VEE 9.32 is NOT approved for Win10 yet, but these two things seem to have fixed everything.
