  While loading an older version of the firmware probably won't help, it could be an option to try. However, I would first like to try to reproduce the problem myself. If you can provide your button press sequence from Preset to make this issue happen I will give it a try myself and see if I can replicate the issue, and possibly offer some suggestions on how to avoid the issue.

Options on E7405A : UKB, 1DR, 1DS, 060, B72, 1DN, A4H and AYQ

The test signal is around 45 dBuV and the frequency are 45 MHz, 55 MHz and 80 MHz

The button press sequence as following details;

1) Press *FREQUENCY* > *45 MHz* 
2) Press *SPAN* > *Zero Span*
3) Press *Det/Demod* > *EMI Detector* > *Quasi Peak* 
    +Or Press *Det/Demod* > *EMI Detector* > *Average*+
    and change detector by do not Press OFF the detector before changing. 
4) Press *Det/Demod* > *EMI Detector* > *OFF*
 
Repeating the setup 3) and 4), the problem will occur.

When the problem occurred, Preset can't fix the problem. Re-Power cycle is the only way to fix it.

  I have firmware version A.14.06 in my instrument and I cannot reproduce the problem. I tried it many times to see if I could see any problems and could not. I also tried all of the different frequencies you mentioned...

What kind of a signal are you using? (CW, pulsed, etc...)

I tried both CW and pulsed RF, as well as noise.

Can you send a picture of the screen when it is locked up so that I can see if there is anything else that might help figure this out?

When you select one of the EMI detectors the instrument does a lot of different things. It does an autorange to bring the peak of the signal near the top of the screen, it switches the amplitude scale from log to linear (as this is how these detectors are most accurate), then it changes the detector to what is selected. When it appears to be hung up do you see the reference level value on the screen continually changing, as if it is still trying to autorange?

Have you tried doing this with a higher level signal to see if it might work?

Also, from the Service menu you can turn off the Autoranging. You might want to try this to see if it is the autoranging that is having the problem. You get to the service menu from the System menu. (The passcode is -2010 Enter)

The problem is still appeared. 

Could you please provide the old revision of firmware and old EMI personality to me for testing  first.

Now, the problem was happened when press Preset for several times then setting same as above.
After pressed Quasi Peak detector, it's work fine, but press Quasi Peak again, the instrument hang up.

I wish it would not hardware defect. so I will try with old firmware first.

Please help.
