    Yes, I agree that it would be nice if the lot code were a little more decipherable.
 
I do know that the first two digits are the year, and the second two are the week number. It might be possible to use that to get a rough guess with it, based on the errata. By looking at when different mask revisions were added to the document, at least you can get an idea when a mask shouldn't be available.
 
For example, in the MZ EF errata, rev. B2 was added on 6/2018. That definitely means that any lot codes dated 2017 and earlier would never be B2. How close to "1826" you could get would not be as easy, though.
 
A3 was added in 7/2016, so any part with a date code starting with "17" will be, with 99% certainty, rev. A3.
