  Hello,     I am encountering the following error message while using any of the Excel examples found in the ActiveX Automation folder in VEE 7.03:     Null Pointer Problem  Error =[0x80040204]     I should point out that the error does NOT occur on the very first time the program is run, however, subsequent runs always result in the error.     Unfortunately, I have not been able to duplicate the problem on other PCs that are configured identically. (VEE 7.03, Win XP Pro, MS Excel 2003)     Adding Shawn's KillProcess to the Excel example corrects the error on the problem PC.     Any ideas what this problem might be and how to resolve it?     Thanks,  Tony

Well, Sky says that means "An invalid field name was used in a query string." Obviously, this is incorrect. IOW, we've encountered that most hilarious of scenarios, the famous Comp/Edit 5810 "Erroneous Error".

Since this problem is isolated to one particular machine I'd hazard a guess that the registry is farkled - though farkled in a way I would have thought impossible. You might want to try running chkdsk. If no problems turn up, and if a scan & fix of the registry doesn't cure the problem, try reinstalling Excel.
