Well, I rebooted and when it found unknown hardware, I let it search for a driver - took a long time but found something and installed it, so now it sees the card and the 8903B - but Agilent IO library gives me an error that "the instrument failed to return an IDN string". I did see the 8903B flash "error 21" so I guess the bus is working.

More than likely the 8903B doesn't support the *IDN? command. You can disable it in the IO libraries as with some instruments it may cause them to lock up after being sent and read.

OK, I guess I'll have to play with it. I found someone who wrote some VEE applications that make some very complete measurments though a graphical interface - but these are not working yet either, so I have some reading to do. My first time at doing any GPIB in 30 years.

But it sounds like both the 8903B and board are working which was my main concern.
