I am not specialist in digitally modulated signal but I do understand that the Spectrum Analyzer can be demerge even if the peak power of signal is below demerge level of receiver if the total bandwidth power is above. In your case, the power is 33dBm is definitely above damage level of MXA.
I will even suggest to use even higher then 5W (like 10W) attenuator to avoid heating effect of the attenuator. You could also use 5W attenuator with small attenuation (like 0.5dB) first, so they will absorb fraction of the power, and then follow by bigger attenuation values as power is reduced. I usually try to be 5-10dB below damage level of the equipment.
I did so in my life big number of demerge test equipment and most of them was due to over power. Therefore, keep the equipment save it will pay you back.
