Hello,
for my Master thesis I used a E8361C Network Analyzer and a N4373C Lightwave Component Analyzer to measure the electro-op
tical frequency response for laser diodes.
Now I need to measure the S11 parameters with the E8361C Network Analyzer. Since I have no experience with this measurement yet, I read the manual and now I was hoping someone can validate my approach:
1) To get the "real" device paramters I have to calibrate the cables and probe head
2) The easiest way to do this is using a 1-port Reflection calibration using SmartCal
3) For the calibration wizard process I need a calibration substrate with LOAD, OPEN, SHORT
4) After successful calibrating, the measured S11 parameters are (more or less) the real device parameters
This is the way I would take for the measurements. I am happy about every suggestion.
