If a calibration was done while the unit was at 43.4 degrees the CAL 59 and CAL 60 values should be at 43.4. That being said the value of 43.4 is above nominal for the majority of 3458’s. I wonder if you have a clogged fan filter. What is the serial number of the unit?  You can private message me if you don't want the information being publicized.

  Let me explain how I got into this situation.  During periodic calibration check the fan filter was checked and it was noticed to be deteriorated.  I put a substitute filter in(what we had in the shop) and ordered the filter element.  With this substitute filter the temperature elevated to 43 degrees.  The 3458A was recalibrated with the new temperature set point.  Since then we have gotten the replacement filter elements and replaced the element of this particular 3458A.  It was while recalibrating the 3458A with the new filter that all this focus on TEMP? value have surfaced.  Since I posted the last message on the website I have done another calibration and CAL?59 has dropped to 41.5  and CAL?60 to 41.7.   There is an observation that I made where the temperature elevates as I am using this unit.  I have not noticed this in other 3458As that we have. ( But then again, I have not looked at the temperature with so much interest either)

My questions are:  Should the temperature change?   (From beginning of the performance test and recalibration the temperature 39.3 to 42.6)

  ok ....I just recalibrated the same 3458A. I replaced the filter with a new filter first.   At the beginning of the day I observed the temperature (temp?) to be approx. 37 deg C.   After calibration I had CAL? 59 & CAL?60 approx. 42 deg C.  I got the recalibration done at approximately mid-day. and just observed TEMP? for the rest of the day go back down to approx. 37 deg C.  The temperature swing is approx 5 deg C.  I was thinking of putting another filter element on until the temperature elevates to say 39.5 deg C.

  I put another filter over the existing one.  The temperature elevated to 43 deg c. So I removed the filter element.
I will elevate the temperature until it gets to approx 39 deg c then perform readjustments.
