Not sure for an ENA, but for a PNA with the right firmware, you can use these SCPI commands to find the active channel or measurement:

SYST:ACT:CHAN?
SYST:ACT:MEAS?

I don't think this will work as this command doesn't exist for the ENA (at least I couldn't find it in the programmers guide).
Try :SERV:CHAN:ACT?
Description to this command: Reads out the active channel number (Query only)
