Thank you for your rely. I thought I was out of luck with regard to solving this problem.
To answer this question:
Did you by any chance use one of the Agilent/HP power supply (E3631A or E3632A) and place that on the top left side of the 8753?
Answer: I sent the 8753C in for repair and I don't have any idea what the techs did.
I read that if one replaces the power supply incorrectly, it is possible to damage the unit. I got the impression that this was easy to do. I weighed the benefits and consequences of sending the unit in for repair or doing it by myself and I decided to send the unit in for repair. If you know the details of the power supply installation, in terms of doing it incorrectly and damaging the unit further, I would be happy to read about it.

It has a lot of advantages over the 8753D and all the other network analyzers that followed it. For example, a separate S parameter test set has its advantages and disadvantages.

"Waite couple of days and it usually go away"
Can you explain how the test was conducted?
