How long do you think your client and you should expect to receive free support for an unsupported platform?
Users have had more than ample time to upgrade. I remember when the UK had a huge problem with ignoring the XP warnings.
Use your backup of the client's data, and build a clean SUPPORTED system.
Also, I am not an Intel employee, and I have no sympathy for those who chose to ignore the warnings and upgrades on platforms from more than 15 years ago. If you have to support your client, you have failed your client by not forcing the upgrade. Now, you have a problem.
