Hi Bo, thanks for your reply.
I am generating a single QAM, and that ~ 6 MHz BW is what I was measuring. The signal generator is being controlled by a PXB. If the signal generator's phase noise impairment option is turned on while the waveform is playing the level drops 3 dB. If the waveform is stopped, the phase noise turned on, and the waveforem restarted, the level remains unchanged. It is the stopping and starting of the waveform to avoid the level change that is inconvenient.
