I just heard back from manufacturing. They indicate that 1.4V 300MHz devices are only tested to datasheet speeds at 1.4V -- there is no 100% guarantee that the -300 devices will operate at 225MHz at 1.2V. Personally, I think it should be fine using -300 devices for 1.2V/225MHz, but the customer needs to understand that they are using the drop-in replacement at their own risk.
