I just got a 32GB Intel optane drive and after I completed the installation process it says that there are none available. Can someone please help? I am using an Arorus Z370 Ultra Gaming Motherboard. |

I have the same issue. I just got an Optane 32Gb to accelerate my secondary HDD. It says there are no compatible disks. I've worked on this for a few hours and I'm stumped. Also a Aorus motherboard.

Hi Epicminer3213 & BottlenekDolfin, I’ll refer first to Epicminer3213 to avoid confusions. Epicminer3213, after checking the report file I see that your system recognizes the Intel® Optane™ Memory. Actually, you have the 64GB version and not the 32GB version as you mentioned in your original post. The issue is that the module is not being recognized as an NVMe* device, so probably there is something missing in the BIOS configuration. Please check and follow this configuration guide made by your motherboard’s manufacturer: https://www.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/454/intel-optane-ready.html. Please make sure everything is correctly configured. If you have any doubts, please take a screenshot of your BIOS settings so that I can take a look at it and help you with the configuration In order to take screenshots from BIOS, you will need an USB flash drive connected to your computer. To take the screenshot, just press the Print Screen button and the picture will be saved in the USB flash automatically. Please refer to this guide for additional details on this: https://www.unboxingtreatment.com/2018/04/howto-take-screenshot-motherboard-bios.html Additionally, from the Disk Management screenshot I see that you don’t have the unallocated space necessary for the module to work properly. Please check the following document on page 5 to see the details about this unallocated space: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/memory-and-storage/optane-memory/intel-optane-memory-user-installation.pdf. This unallocated space should be at least 5MB at the end of the primary drive. This space can be reserved when you are installing the Windows* OS. I know there have been some community users who have used third party tools to reserve this space to avoid re-installing the OS, however I cannot recommend you any of them as I haven’t tried them. You can search for a tool that can help you achieving this, or re-install the OS making sure the unallocated space is reserved at the end of the drive. Finally, I also recommend you to check if your drive is using GPT as partition style and not MBR. This can be checked from Disk Management. On Disk Management, right click on Disk 0 and select Properties. Then select the Volumes tab and you will see there which partition style is currently being used. If you have any questions, please take a screenshot of the Volumes tab. I’ll refer now to BottlenekDolfin. BottlenekDolfin, I can see that you have 3 drives, but the Intel® Optane™ Memory is not visible in your system. I’m wondering in which M.2 slot you have connected it, because it may be possible that the M.2 slot is sharing bandwidth with some SATA port used by another drive. My recommendation is to remove any M.2 drive besides the Intel® Optane™ Memory and check if you see the module in the OS. According to the motherboard’s manual (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-AORUS-Ultra-Gaming-rev-10#support-manual), the M.2 port M2A_3G shares bandwidth with the SATA port SATA3 0 so make sure there is no drive connected in this SATA port either. Please make sure too the BIOS settings are properly set by following the guide I mentioned above. If possible please take screenshots of the BIOS settings too, that’s really helpful in order to understand where the issue could be. I’ll be waiting for your responses. Have a nice day. Regards, Diego V. |
