    I have product which I am transitioning from using a SENA bluetooth module (BCD110DC-00) to a microchip BM64.   I am using the SPP profile where the uC sends UART data @ 9600 baudto the Bluetooth module.   I have the BM64 programmed and I am able to discover and pair the BM64 & can connect on both a PC and an Android phone.  The issue the UART transmissions from the uC are not being received  on the paired device terminal application.   

My BN64 settings are:

P2-0 HIGH
EAN  LOW
MFB  HIGH   

Is there something I am missing?

    A couple of questions to try and help out, I'm using the similar BM62.

  • Are you using the evaluation board or is this built into a custom board?
  • If using the evaluation board, are you connecting through the USB port or the UART header (J6)?
  • Are you using the supplied PC programs from Microchip to connect to BM64 UART?
As Geoff states, the baudrate, by default is 115200 for the BM64.  The three important pins are:

  • MFB - high
  • EAN - low
  • P2_0 - high
If you are connecting through the usb port of the eval board you should be able to see communication at 115200 buad, but if you are connecting through J6, you will need to make a board modification.  By default, the USB to UART chip on the eval board controls the receive line to the BM64 and does not allow the UART pins of J6 to operate when powering through USB.  If you want to power though USB and send commands from an external device via J6, you must disconnect Q11.
 
I have been able to use the evaluation board for the BM62 to connect through the UART, but I have not been able to connect though UART on my own prototype boards (yet to determine why).

    Thanks for the responses.   I am not using the evaluation board.    I have the BM64 piggy backed on the PCB that had the Sena BT module.    I have the BM64  programmed to 9600 baud since that is what I was sending Sena BT Module.
